Ann Arbor Triathlon: The Bruin Lake Campground is a modern facility (showers, flush toilets, electricity, etc.) run by the state of Michigan and located near Unadilla and the 8-mile mark of the triathlon bike course. Call 800-447-2757 for reservations; spaces will fill fast. Rustic sites (hand-pump, pit toilet) are available at Crooked Lake, a pretty spot at the 1.5 mile mark of the triathlon run course. Crooked Lake is a half-mile by car from Silver Lake Beach and five miles by car from Halfmoon Lake Beach. The Brighton Recreation Area consists of nearly 5000 acres of rolling woods and meadows interspersed with lakes, streams, and marshes. There are several campgrounds, beaches, and hiking and mountain bike trails. It also features complete equestrian facilities, including a riding stable with rental horses, campground, staging area and 18 miles of bridle trails. Take I-96 to exit 147 at Brighton. Go west approximately six miles to Chilson Road, and drive south 1.5 miles to Bishop Lake Road.
