Ann Arbor Triathlon/Duathlon & Trail Run

NEW FOR 2012: 5 MI TRAIL RUN

In addition to the Tri / Du, we are adding a Trail Run for folks who just want to RUN! This run will take place concurrently with the Tri/Du, starting from the Beach, and through the State Park gnarly trails. Watch for more details on the course soon!


Distances:

  • Triathlon  - 0.5 mile swim, 14 mile bike, 5 mile trail run
  • Duathlon - 2 mile trail run, 14 mile bike, 5 mile trail run
  • Trail Run - 5 miles on the Potawatomi Trail

Course:

  • Swim: clockwise loop in Halfmoon Lake with wave starts - map
  • Du first Run: loop course on the Potawatomi Trail  - map
  • Bike: loop course on rolling paved roads  map
  • Run: a loop on the Potawatomi Trail (One may want to wear trail running shoes, practice a few miles on this trail, or any trail before the race, and also carry more water if needed) -  map
  • Aid Stations: There will be aid stations serving water and HEED at about the two and four mile marks of the run and at the entrance and exits to the transition area.

Where: Halfmoon Lake, Pinckney Recreation Area, Pinckney, MI - on Hankerd Rd

Park Info:

  • Park Closes: 8:00 AM SHARP!
  • Park Permits: A State Park permit is needed.

    1. Michigan residents CANNOT purchase a one day, you MUST do the Recreation Passport .

    2. We will NOT sell OUT OF STATE ONE DAY PERMITS on Saturday at Packet Pick-up.

    3. It is $ 8.00 FOR ONE DAY OUT OF STATE residents only.

Hosted by the Ann Arbor Triathlon Club  

Entry Fees: includes - t-shirt, goodie bag, unique venue, immediate post race recovery food and drinks, chip timing, immediate results, and a post race lunch (beginning at 10:15 through the awards ceremony), USAT officials, volunteers monitoring the bike course are from the Ann Arbor Triathlon Club and monitoring the run course are from the Chelsea High School track and cross country teams.

Divisions:

  • Individuals: Females & Males: 15-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over.
  • Male Clydesdales 200+ lbs - Open (39 and under) and Masters (40 and over) weigh-in - A scale will be at the packet pick-up area, you are on your honor, weigh-in and write your weight down on the weigh-in form.
  • Relays: Male, Female, Co-ED three person teams Triathlon only

Awards:

  • Triathlon - Top male and female, top masters male and female, at least top 5 in age groups.
  • Duathlon - Top male and female, top masters male and female, and at least top 5 in age groups
  • Clydesdales - top three in each age age group (39 and under and 40 and over)
  • Relays - 1st place in each division

Medical Services are provided by Robert Kiningham, MD, FACSM, Primary Care, Sports Medicine, UM Dept. of Family Medicine.

Benefits: Partial proceeds from the events will be donated to Chelsea High School track and cross country teams.

Directions:

  • From I-94 Baker Road exit, go north to Dexter. Turn left at the traffic light, go through Dexter to the intersection of Dexter-Pinckney Rd and Island Lake Road. Go straight on Island Lake Rd to Dexter Town Hall Rd, turn right. Go north to North Territorial Rd and turn left. Go west to Hankerd Road and turn right. Halfmoon Beach is approximately 1.75 miles north on Hankerd Rd.
  • From US-23 North Territorial Rd exit, go west approximately 12 miles to Hankerd Rd, turn right. Halfmoon Beach is approximately 1.75 miles north on Hankerd Rd.

Transfer policy: If a transfer is necessary, you MUST contact Elite Endeavors by email at least 72 hours prior to the event (Wednesday evening). There will be a $15 fee charged for any transfer. Transfer must take place within a year.
